The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party has hit back at
former President Mahama for claiming that Ghanaians, are dying under
the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo.
Through the “incompetence” of former President Mahama, Mr. Bernard
Antwi-Boasiako, noted that innocent Ghanaians lost their precious lives.
He recounted former President Mahama inability to stabilize
electricity in Ghana drove many business owners who depended on
electrical energy for production to suicide.
“People who were on life support lost their lives because the
incompetent Mahama couldn’t fix the power issue in Ghana. Several
businesses collapsed because they depended on electricity for
production.
Some of the business owners had gone in for loans but couldn’t pay back
and through that their business collapsed and the stress associated to
their problem drove them to the grave before their God given time”, Mr.
Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi said.
He went on to state that because former President Mahama was bad as a
president, a lot of scammers took advantage of his weak administration
to operate Ponzi schemes.
“You were weak as a President and because of that a lot of scammers
popped up in the financial sector leading to the collapse of banks. If
you consider the measures President Akufo-Addo and his able vice put in
to consolidate banks to make them vibrant to that of Mahama and how he
managed the DKM issue, it tells you he was a low quality president”, he
said.
Former President Mahama is reported to have said Ghanaians are dying under the leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Speaking to NDC delegates at Asante Akim Central Constituency, John
Mahama stated that when the NDC was in government under his leadership,
the NPP led by Akufo-Addo thought it was easy to govern.
He added, the way NPP was talking during his time as President, they
appeared to know the job than him but look at the mess they have led us
into.
“Even though an elected President has a four-year mandate, the NPP
government with only two years in office has demonstrated that they
don’t know what they are doing. Farmers are sad, drivers are sad and
galamseyers are also sad,” Mr Mahama said with cheers from the crowd.
But Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, noted that most of the “cynical”
comments being peddled around by the former president were borne out of
his desperation to return to political power. He further explained that
former President Mahama is focused on sowing seeds of discord amongst
Ghanaians just to taste political power again.
The NPP chair who is known as Chairman Wontumi was quick to add that the
high standards being set by President Akufo-Addo’s government would
make it extremely difficult for Mr. Mahama to return to power.
