The only reason I'm answering this question is because the other responses are horrific. You just did your first semester. If you are going for a 4 year degree you have 7 more. So the bottom line is you could have done better, sort of for 1/8th of the time which also happened to be your first shot at this. That's not that bad to be honest.
Let's say that is the gpa you graduate with, well then you will do just that graduate. You will have that degree in your hand. Grades are important but are nothing compared to the skills you learn. If that is your gpa but you have the best resume, or you know some important skill (as a example for me in mechanical engineering let's say the cad program solidworks) then you have put your efforts in the right place. You of course want as good of a gpa as possible but if it not perfect it really is not the end of the world. I would say 2.5 is where you want to start doing better.
There is always something you could have done better, but don't forget a winning attitude, endurance, strong skill sets, ambition, and ingenuity will always be the most important characteristics to maintain. Way more so than grades.
